The Vision
An outdoor patio should be an extension of your home. A space where you can relax, entertain, and enjoy the outdoors without compromise. For this project, the goal was simple: transform a beautiful covered patio into a fully functional outdoor living space.
Design & Installation
The MagnaTrack motorized solar screen was selected for this project for one reason above all others: it is the world's only self-correcting motorized screen. Where other screens can bind, sag, or require costly service calls, MagnaTrack's intelligent system continuously adjusts during operation to ensure smooth, reliable performance.
One of the most impressive technical features of this installation is the self-leveling bottom bar. Because many patio slabs are intentionally sloped for drainage, standard screens can leave gaps along the bottom edge. MagnaTrack's bottom bar compensates automatically — as one side reaches the surface, it stops and allows the other side to continue descending until it's flush across the full width. The result is a tight, clean seal all the way across, even on an uneven surface.
In Northern Colorado, wind is a real concern for any outdoor installation. MagnaTrack screens are engineered to withstand winds up to 75 MPH, and the track system keeps the screen fabric taut and secure in high-wind conditions where lesser screens would fail or sustain damage. This screen is built to stay in place when the weather doesn't cooperate.
The screen blocks up to 97% of harmful UV rays while still maintaining outward visibility — you can see the yard and the view beyond without being exposed to glare, heat, or insects. When fully lowered, it creates a genuinely enclosed outdoor room that stays cool and comfortable even on the hottest afternoons.
Smart home integration makes the screen effortless to operate. It can be raised or lowered from a smartphone app, triggered by a voice command through Amazon Alexa or Google Home, or set on a schedule that fits the household routine. Autonomous wind and rain sensors provide an additional layer of protection — monitoring conditions 24/7 and automatically retracting the screen if wind speeds approach unsafe levels, whether anyone is home or not.
