The Vision
This great room showcases how dramatic architecture and integrated technology combine to create a space that's both awe-inspiring and effortlessly functional. The soaring vaulted ceiling with exposed timber trusses demanded a lighting approach that would complement the vertical scale while delivering practical illumination for everything from intimate conversations to movie nights. The challenge was designing a system that could adapt from bright, energizing daytime use to warm, cinematic evening entertainment—all while respecting the architectural integrity of the space.
Design & Installation
Through our Integrated Luxury lighting design package, every fixture placement was carefully calibrated to the room's dramatic proportions and the homeowner's lifestyle needs. Our designers worked closely through detailed consultations, electrical walks, and on-site installation oversight to ensure the lighting vision translated flawlessly from plan to reality—including strategic prewiring for future motorized shades that will integrate seamlessly when added.
The centerpiece Capital Lighting ring chandelier commands attention at the room's apex, its candelabra bulbs providing both ambient illumination and dramatic vertical emphasis that draws the eye upward through the timber structure. Nora recessed cans are strategically positioned throughout the ceiling plane and trusses, delivering uniform ambient lighting that highlights the wood ceiling's texture while washing the stone fireplace wall with subtle accent light.
The Samsung 85" Frame TV integrates into the fireplace wall, transforming from entertainment centerpiece to digital art display when not in use. The space was thoughtfully prewired for Hunter Douglas motorized window treatments—forward-thinking infrastructure that will allow seamless shade integration without disruptive retrofitting. The result is a great room where architectural grandeur meets modern convenience, creating an environment that adapts to every occasion while maintaining its stunning visual impact.
