The Vision
This contemporary space showcases how strategic accent lighting can transform architectural features into dramatic focal points. The challenge was creating a lighting design that would highlight the glass-enclosed wine storage while providing appropriate illumination for the surrounding areas—including the staircase, adjacent spaces, and decorative elements. The solution required careful layering of ambient, task, and accent lighting to ensure each zone received proper illumination while the wine cellar commanded attention as the space's defining feature.
Design & Installation
Through our Lighting Design Package, every lighting layer was meticulously planned to create visual hierarchy and functional illumination throughout this multi-level space. Our designers provided detailed consultations, electrical walks, and on-site installation oversight to ensure each fixture placement and dimming option was precisely calibrated to the architecture and the homeowner's vision.
The glass-enclosed wine cellar becomes the room's centerpiece through integrated American Lighting tape light that runs along the base and shelving. This creates clean, vertical illumination that accentuates each bottle while casting a warm glow that makes the collection a living work of art. The lighting transforms the wine storage from simple function to gallery-worthy display, drawing the eye and creating conversation from every angle in the open floor plan.
Nora recessed cans provide foundational ambient lighting throughout the main floor and staircase area, their warm white color temperature contributing to the comfortable, inviting atmosphere. WAC step lights ensure safe navigation along the wooden staircase while adding subtle accent that highlights the material finishes and craftsmanship. Kichler hardscape lighting extends the design philosophy beyond the wine cellar, providing focused illumination on the decorative flag display above the cellar—elevating its presence and creating additional visual interest. The result is a space where layered lighting defines different functional zones while the illuminated wine cellar anchors the design as an unforgettable architectural statement.
